William Nix, as one of the co-founding members of the Producer’s Guild Social Impact Entertainment Task Force, made presentations to members of the production and writing communities at UCLA, hosted by the Skoll SIE Center (http://www.tft.ucla.edu/skoll-center-for-social-impact-entertainment), and also at the Austin Film Festival.
The former focused on “Financing Social Impact Entertainment” productions and the latter on “Shifting Writers’ Lenses” when designing their characters and their stories, as well as discussing examples of how working writers, directors, and producers can apply these principles to their creative content. During the AFF, he also did a Q& A with MFA Writing Candidates with Professor Leslie Kreiner.

William Nix served as a "Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court" in the 20th Annual National Entertainment Moot Court Competition at Pepperdine Law School.
https://law.pepperdine.edu/…/mo…/national-entertainment-law/ The matter presented an interesting set of issues testing the "copyrightability" of a visually depicted character in a television series (riffed off of "Games of Thrones" with the names changed to protect the participants) and whether "fair use" principles would apply because the appellant argued its work was "transformative" under the exemptive satire/parody body of law.
