cgpbadgepgalogoPGA Education Committee "Social Change Marketing and Distribution" Seminar

PGA Education Committee Members, Kate McCallum, Anne Marie Gillen, and William Nix are producing a PGA WEST EVENT entitled "Developing & Marketing Projects for Social Impact." It will be held at the Annenberg School of Journalism on the USC Campus, courtesy of the Hollywood Health and Society, on the evening of Thursday, February 8th, 2018.

The event will focus upon Storytelling, the arts and media have the power to create social change and transformation on an individual, local, national and global level. This seminar will feature organizations and institutions who support the creative community through providing experts, resources and education addressing relevant issues, and producers and production companies dedicated to creating cause-related films, documentaries and television content. You'll learn about resources available to creators, and also gain insight into opportunities and strategies for development, funding and marketing meaningful content.

William Nix and new Creative Projects Group Advisory Board member, Michelle McIntosh, are working with Festival Founder/CEO Keri Kukral, as Producers of the 2017 Raw Science Film Festival The Festival honors films on science and technology worldwide. Categories include fiction and non-fiction for both students and professionals. Cash prizes are awarded. Animations and infographics are welcomed. The film screening and awards ceremony takes place the iconic Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara, California on January 6th. Two new additions to the 4th Annual RSFF this year are a special VIP Reception the night before the Festival and a series of panels and workshops being held at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History on Sunday, January 7th. The event is poised to continually elevate science media to the highest stages.

The program is designed to connect participants with virtually all aspects of the industry in Los Angeles and provide multiple opportunities to present film and television projects to independent producers, investors and distributors in Hollywood. William Nix is presenting an extensive overview entitled "Trends and Transformations in the Entertainment and Media Business" to the group as part of this Program.

From Rwanda to Kosovo, Cambodia to the North of Ireland, Global Arts Corps has used the transformative power of theatre to bring together people from opposite sides of violent conflict, unrest and war in 17 countries on 4 continents, reaching over 100,000 audience members, and facilitating reconciliation workshops for over 15,000 participants.

Family ReEntry's (FRE) mission is to develop, implement, and share sustainable, cost-effective solutions for the unprecedented numbers of people involved in the criminal justice system, which empower individuals, strengthen families, and build communities. Family ReEntry SM began in 1984, as a reentry support group for men at the Isaiah House in Bridgeport and has since grown to include intervention, reentry, and family and children programs. Over the past thirty-two years, effective community-based programs developed by Family ReEntry, have significantly reduced the likelihood that clients will re-offend, be re-arrested, or be re-incarcerated.

Its programs comprise three integrated sectors: Prevention, Intervention, and Reentry, providing a spectrum of services designed to help break the cycle of incarceration. FRE addresses the specific needs of each client and their families through individualized case management and support services. It works to create a positive social network for each client, towards helping to make their transition from prison back into the community a successful one and helping them towards a road of self-sufficiency, while strengthening their families and the community. FRE's programs include: Domestic Violence Treatment and Education, Community Reentry, Mentoring Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs.

William Nix has signed as Executive Producer for Writer/Director/Producer Rick McKay's documentary feature film trilogy which covers Broadway from 1940's to the present as well as the theatre around the country that is influencing the future of the medium. Broadway: The Golden Age (2004) is the first part of documentary film trilogy by Rick McKay. It tells the story of the "golden age" of Broadway via the oral histories of the legendary actors of the 1940s and 1950s, incorporating rare lost footage of actual performances and never-before-seen personal home movies and photos. The intrinsic value of the documentary as a historical record is underscored by the fact that seven of the interviewees (Hume Cronyn, Ute Hagen, Al Hirschfeld, Kim Hunter, Ann Miller, Harold Nicholas and Gwen Verdon) died before the film was released in June 2004, and another 37 interviewees have died since then (as of April 2016).

Ian Wagner, Producer with Fantail Entertainment, and the PGA Education Committee, will be offering a 4-hour Master Class that will be hosted by the Pepperdine Institute of Entertainment, Media & Culture (iEMC), as part of iEMC's "Next Wave in Entertainment" series. The Crowdsourcing Master Class will be held at Pepperdine's Culver City campus. It will focus on the process, requirements, techniques and companies who specialize in online and other forms of crowdsource-funding for film, television and other media projects.
